Women University Mardan 1st Senate Meeting

1st Senate Meeting was held on 26th, January 2017. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra presided over the meeting.

Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yasmeen
Women University, Mardan is a unique institution of its kind which has been established to promote literacy among females, particularly those who do not get the opportunity to go farther from the walled security of their homes. They have been conditioned to assume the responsibility of their households and play the roles prefigured for them befittingly.

In order to keep pace with the ever growing literacy rate in developed countries, we need to extend the scope of education by offering it to females in rural or peripheral areas and provide them the environment in which they can feel at home. A sapling becomes a tree once it is nurtured with care and devotion. I feel honoured to be the first Vice Chancellor of the university as it fell to my lot to sow the seed and water it through untiring labour and the toil of night and day.

I can see the magnitude of the challenge lying ahead but it is more challenging to take initiatives rather than treading the much trodden path. Life is the name of crossroads of unlimited opportunities for those who are willing to fight against odds as the saying goes: "Two roads diverged in a wood and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Robert Frost I hope to see this sapling flourishing into a strong tree one day and that will make all the difference.
