3rd International Conference: Empowering Nation through Sciences on 24th and 25th April, 2019
Women University Mardan has organised two days international conference, “Empowering Nation through Sciences” at Hotel Margala, Islamabad Pakistan on 24th and 25th April, 2019.
The purpose of the conference was to bring scientists, academicians, students and industry professionals from diverse areas of the country and from all over the world on a platform to exchange the contribution of different sciences towards the growth and boosting up of nation.
The opening ceremony was held on April 24th, 2019, where Dr. Yousaf Zafar (T.I), the former Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) was the honoured chief guest of the occasion. Following the recitation of Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool (PBHU), the ceremony was started formally with the welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yasmeen, Vice Chancellor, Women University Mardan, followed by keynotes lectures delivered by international speaker’s including; Dr. Tonya Blowers from Organization for Women in Science for Developing Countries (OWSD) Italy; Dr. Nigihisty Ghezae from International Foundation of Science (IFS) Sweden, Prof. Dr. Paul Inman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Oxford Brookes University, UK, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq from University of Guelph, Canada. In the last of opening ceremony the Chief Guest addressed to the audience and shared his views regarding the conference.
The two days of conference were consisted of 4 technical sessions and each was split into three parallel sessions (one on social sciences and two on Biological & Natural Sciences). Every session was chaired by the respective conference chair and at the end of each session, the presenters were awarded the certificates for their oral presentations. Total of 165 participants attended the conference including; professor, scientist and students from all over the Pakistan from different universities.
In the concluding session, worthy Vice Chancellor Women University Mardan, Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yasmin was the chief guest of the ceremony and Ms. Margaux McDonald, Canada’s Senior Trade Commissioner in Pakistan, was invited as the guest of honour. Dr. Hina Jabeen, Additional Director ORIC and Principal Organizer of the Conference started the session with vote of thanks, followed by addresses by honourable Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.
The conference was formally ended with signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) by Vice Chancellors; Women University Mardan and University of Hazara Mansehra, for cooperation to strengthen scientific and academic facilitation. Lastly, launch of the PAKBOL (Biodiversity of Life Pakistan iBOL)” inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Women University Mardan and Ms. Margaux McDonald, Canada’s Senior Trade Commissioner in Pakistan, Dr. Muhammad Ashfaq research scientist at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics at the University of Guelph and Prof. Dr. Nazeer Ahmad, BUITEMS, Balochistan, focal person PakBOL.
