KP Govt Recognizes Young Scientists’ Achievements in Science and Technology

The Directorate General of Science and Technology (DGST), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a grand Science and Technology Awards Ceremony to grant awards to 140 outstanding young researchers in the fields of science and technology.
Among the award recipients was Dr. Naila Zubair from the Department of Chemistry, Women University Mardan along with her research student, Kashmala Sajid.

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Shafqat Ayaz, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on ST& IT as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries included Secretary ST&IT Amjad Ali Khan, Director General of DGST Sajid Shah, the Managing Director of KPITB, Vice Chancellors from various universities and a large number of students.

Grants were awarded to students under two key programs: The Undergraduate Research Support Program and the Master’s Interdisciplinary Research Program, focusing on strategic sectors such as gems, honey, medicinal plants, micro-hydro energy, archaeology, biomedical sciences, and space sciences.

Dr. Shafqat Ayaz in his address, encouraged the youth and highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting a research culture in line with Imran Khan’s vision. He emphasized that research would not only aid in solving local issues but also benefit the medical field and its patients.

Addressing the gathering, DG Sajid Shah said that “These awards reflect our belief that science and technology are not just national priorities, but provincial imperatives. By funding young researchers, we are planting seeds of knowledge, self-reliance, and innovation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he said.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates and awards to the outstanding researchers, marking a significant step towards fostering a research-oriented environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
