The Department of Biotechnology at Women University Mardan successfully organized a seminar on the topic “Challenges in Student Research and Crafting a Robust Research Synopsis: From Idea to Approval”on October 27, 2025, which was attended by a significant number of students from the BS and M.phil Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biochemistry departments.
The guest speaker for the occasion was Dr. Iftikharuddin, Dean Research Associate at Bacha Khan Medical College (MTI), Mardan, and Chairperson of the Department of Public Health and Community Medicines.
The primary objective of the seminar was to apprise students of the common challenges encountered during the initial phases of research, particularly in project design and data collection. Dr. Iftikharuddin provided invaluable insights into practical strategies for overcoming these hurdles. Furthermore, the talk served as a platform to explore avenues for faculty members from both institutions to design and initiate joint research projects, fostering an environment of academic collaboration.
A pivotal context for this collaboration is the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bacha Khan Medical College (MTI) and the Department of Biotechnology, Women University Mardan. This landmark agreement was facilitated under the support of the Worthy Vice Chancellor of Women University Mardan, Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana. As a key outcome of this partnership, students from the Department of Biotechnology will now have the opportunity to conduct their research projects in the laboratories of Bacha Khan Medical College.
The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Head of Department, followed by the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the participating faculty members.
