Faculty of Science , Women University Mardan organized a Two-Days International Conference, “Scientific Outlook of Sustainable Development Goals” on 15-16th January, 2024. The main focus of the conference was to showcase the recent research/progress on various UNO SDGs at national/international level, including; No Poverty (SDG-1), Zero Hunger (SDG-2), Good Health & Well-being (SDG-3), Clean Water & Sanitation (SDG-6), Affordable & Clean energy (SDG-7), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG-9), Climate Action (SDG-13) & Partnership for Goals (SDG-17).

In the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ghazala Yasmeen, Vice Chancellor, Women University Mardan extended a heartfelt welcome to Chief guest; Mr. Najeebullah Marwat, Minister for Science and Technology Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the representatives of collaborators Mr. Murtaza Noor, Advisor COMSTECH, and Dr. Saqib Nasir, Director P&D from PSF, and PASTIC. Equally, a warm welcome note was delivered to distinguished International/national keynote speakers; Prof. Dr. Faiz Ahmad from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Turan Ozturk from Istanbul Technical Universiy Turkey; and Prof. Dr. Amir Habib from university of Hafr al Bati; Prof. Dr. Irshad Hussain from SBA School of Science and Engineering, LUMS; Dr. Arshad Hussain DEAN from Pak Austria Fachhochsule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, Haripur; and Dr. Anwar-Ul- Hassan Gilani, consultant Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. She also extended a very warm welcome to all the invited speakers, Principal Organizers, members organizing team and all participants. Dr. Ghazala being a fellow advocate for a sustainable and equitable future shared that this conference is a collective effort to harness the power of science and innovation in meeting the challenges outlined by the SDGs. Further she elaborated; “This conference, centered around the Sustainable Development Goals, reflects the shared commitment of our academic community. The Chief guest, Mr. Najeebullah Marwat, Minister for Science and Technology Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed that The Ministry Science and Technology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will take every possible step in favoring this prestigious university and making it a hub of education and a haven for not only the women of Mardan but would try to uplift its standard to the mark where it can attract even foreign students. We will work together hand in hand to facilitate an efficient educational system in the best interest of the people of Pakistan.

The conference was divided into six technical sessions with more than 200 participants attended this conference that has invited the various opportunities for National and International collaborations/partnerships between academia, industry, technologists and R & D sector.
