Women University Mardan organized an awareness seminar on “Prevention of Drug Abuse and Youth Delinquency in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs)”
Mardan, December 12, 2024 – The Chief Proctorial Office and Security Office of Women University Mardan organized an awareness seminar on “Prevention of Drug Abuse and Youth Delinquency in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs)”. The event was held in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Center of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism (KPCV) and the District Police Mardan.
Prominent speakers, including Mr. Ikramullah Khan and Mr. Kashif Irshad, Director KPCV, highlighted the alarming rise in drug abuse and its health implications among youth in HEIs. District Police Officer Mr. Zahoor Babar Afridi informed the audience about safe and accessible options for reporting drug cases and elaborated on the police’s efforts under the ICE Free Mardan Drug Campaign.
Deputy Registrar Mr. Adnan Ahmed praised the efforts of the Proctorial Office for maintaining a drug-free environment across WUM campuses and affiliated colleges. Additionally, a mock exercise led by the Security Office demonstrated counter-terrorism emergency preparedness.
The seminar concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the resource persons, speakers, and organizing team. The event was made possible through the support of the Vice Chancellor, along with facilitation from the Registrar and Admin Offices.
The organizing team included Dr. Ayesha Bibi, Dr. Rashida Parveen, and Mr. Shah Faisal, whose efforts ensured the seminar’s success in raising awareness on this critical issue.
