WUM and AWKUM Join Hands to Support Buner Flood Victims with Relief Camp
In a remarkable show of solidarity and compassion, Women University Mardan (WUM) and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) jointly organized a large-scale flood relief camp in Buner under the special directives of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana.
Prior to the camp, Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana shared a heartfelt video message assuring the people of Buner of the university’s full support. Soon after, a dedicated WUM delegation, in collaboration with AWKUM, departed for the affected areas.
The relief camp provided essential household supplies, medical checkups, and medicines to families in the devastated villages of Bashonai, Qadar Nagar, and Malikpur. This effort was further strengthened by WUM’s ongoing donation campaign, where students, faculty, and staff contributed resources to support flood victims in Buner, Swat, and Swabi with food, shelter, and other necessities.
WUM’s Deputy Registrar Mr. Adnan Ahmad, Admin Officer Mr. Fazal Maiz, and Campus Coordinator Mr. Kamran Khan actively participated, while AWKUM’s Director Admissions Dr. Idrees led his team with full commitment.
The camp was visited by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, MPA from Mardan Abdul Salam Afridi, and MPA from Buner (Malikpur, Pir Baba) Riaz Khan, who praised the joint efforts of both universities and conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Buner.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana said:
“In this time of grief, it is our sacred duty to stand with our brothers and sisters who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Women University Mardan will remain with them until life returns to normal.”
This joint initiative stands as a symbol of unity, compassion, and social responsibility, demonstrating how universities can go beyond classrooms to provide relief, support, and hope to communities in times of crisis.
