WUM Marks Defence Day with Tributes to Martyrs

MARDAN: Women University Mardan (WUM) commemorated Defence Day 2025 with great reverence and national spirit at its Main Campus, paying tribute to the martyrs and heroes of the 1965 war.

Organized under the theme “Sacrifice and Valor”, the event brought together faculty, staff, and more than 200 students who showcased patriotism through tableaux, mili naghmas, speeches in Urdu and English, and a poster competition reflecting unity and resilience.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana, who graced the ceremony as Chief Guest, highlighted the enduring significance of Defence Day, praising the sacrifices of martyrs as a guiding light for future generations. She urged students to carry forward the same spirit of dedication in academics and civic responsibilities.

The program was coordinated by a team of faculty members including Dr. Hassina Bashir, Dr. Nelofar Ikram, Dr. Robina Rashid, Ms. Anfal Afridi, Ms. Rani Zain, Ms. Sara Khan, Ms. Halima Ikram (Director ORIC), and Mr. Fazal Mueez.

The celebration concluded with a renewed pledge by participants to honor the legacy of Pakistan’s heroes and safeguard the nation’s future.
