The Department of Biotechnology organized a study visit for its BS and M.Phil students to the National Institute for Genomics and Advanced Biotechnology (NIGAB) at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) in Islamabad on 29th October, 2025.
The study tour provided students with a remarkable opportunity to witness cutting-edge scientific research. The NIGAB has approximately 28 research laboratories, where advanced studies are conducted for the improvement of plants, animals, and microorganisms. The scientists at NIGAB demonstrated various ongoing projects and explained the sophisticated technology involved in genetic modification. This practical exposure was immensely fruitful, significantly enhancing the students understanding of the applications of genetic engineering in agriculture and biotechnology.
We are grateful to our worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana for approving and supporting this initiative, providing us with this invaluable opportunity to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world scientific applicaions.
